Excalibur (SWE) - Until Morning Breaks (1997)/Redreamer (1998)

 

Δύο αγαπημένα demo από μία άγνωστη και ξεχασμένη μπάντα από τη Σουηδία. Έχοντας έρθει σε επαφή με τον Stefan Zell, τον τραγουδιστή των Wolverine, πήρα το email του Henrik Petterson (κιθαρίστα και βασικό συνθέτη των Excalibur) κι επικοινώνησα μαζί του για να αποκτήσω τα πολυπόθητα demos. Τα δύο μυνήματα που ανταλλάξαμε δίνουν όλο το background story.

Hello Henrik,

Stefan (Zell) gave me your email address, regarding your old band Excalibur. Back in late 90s, I downloaded some (low bit rate) mp3 samples from a website which I found them pretty interesting. A few weeks ago, I visited by accident your MySpace and had the chance to listen again to some of your demo songs (good quality this time). First of all, I would like to say that you did some amazing work and don’t understand why you never had an official release.

According the metal-archives you released four demos (Excalibur, Soundtrack of the Gods, Until Morning Breaks, Redreamer). Here in Ireland I work (partially) as DJ and among my set lists always playing hidden diamonds of power metal. So, is it possible to purchase the demos in CD format? I am happy to send money in any bank account and cover the demos’ and shipping cost (to Dublin).

First of all I would like to thank you for your kind words! The band was disbanded pretty much after the Redreamer demo was recorded back in ´99. Mainly because of dificulties finding av proper singer in the small town area where we lived at the time. Stefan Zell was only assigned for that very recording. I had never imagined someone showing interest in the material some 17 years later. The first txo demos (Excalibur/Soundtrack of our gods) were only available on cassette and are frankly of very poor quality in all aspects. The later two were recorded on CD though. If you provide with me with yor address I'll search through my drawers and see what I can find.

Για την ιστορία, ο Henrik μου έστειλε τα demos εντελώς δωρεάν (ούτε καν τα μεταφορικά δεν ήθελε), μαζί με μπόλικο υλικό (στίχους, φωτογραφίες και χειρόγραφες ταμπλατούρες) από το αρχείο του, προκαλώντας στον Heddigan δάκρυα συγκίνησης.
